Welcome back to my blog! It's been quite some time since I've posted. Life has been busy for me lately as an upcoming graduating senior.
It's T-minus 152 days until I graduate from college. I am anxiously excited about everything that is to come.
It's like when you come to college you think that 4 years will take forever to pass by as it did in high school, when in all actuality it goes by in the blink of an eye.
I can't believe I graduated high school 5 years ago... Time flies when you're having fun right?
Anyways, I hope that these next coming months are everything I expect them to be and fingers crossed I get a job in my field upon graduation 🤞
I officially have my Bachelor's degree in PR and it hasn't quite registered for me yet. Graduation day felt unreal, like a dream I didn't realize I was a part of.
I am still on the hunt for a position in my field but I am hopeful that the right opportunity will present itself when it's time.
I honestly can't wait to begin my Master's program so I can begin utilizing this blog more frequently.
We'll see where life takes me in the coming months.
Introduction Facial recognition is a technology that can be beneficial to various industries in certain circumstances. However, technology is only as good as the person who created it and ensures that it works properly. Facial recognition software can also have dire effects on some if given to a person with the wrong intentions. Issues with this technology can arise from user biases, the misidentification of people of color, and data inaccuracies. It also begs the question of how much data is okay to use and to what extent should we allow technology to have access to our data before it becomes a violation of privacy. Source: Guardian/Getty Images Police departments across the country have been utilizing facial recognition technology to compare suspects to images of people found across the internet and in databases. But what happens when detectives and police use facial recognition to solve a case and it results in a wrongful detainment? This is exactly what occurred when a DeKalb Count...
Hello everybody, welcome back. This week we will be discussing public affairs and diplomacy. How do public relations coincide with public diplomacy? I want to start this off by being quite frank by saying I had no clue what public affairs or public diplomacy were before reading the articles for this week. In fact, I had to look up the differences online. I didn't get much of an answer from a vague Google search so I decided to differentiate these two concepts from what I understand of public relations. Public relations is seen as having an "agency role" where a person works with a firm or organization to build relationships with various publics. Public affairs are somewhat parallel to PR in the sense that the function is the same, but the role is slightly skewed to involve disseminating propaganda and messaging to the public (citizens). This person would also typically work for a governmental body. The difference between public affairs and public diplomacy is one is focu...
New media has both positive and negative effects. More commonly, it is recognized for the multitude of negative effects that it has. In this blog post, I will be discussing some of the positive effects that new media and social media can have on society and the user. Social media has a lot of positive effects that some people don’t realize. Social media connects people from all around the world and makes it easier to connect with your family and friends. According to Pew Research Center , social media and online messaging users are more likely to interact with people who are dissimilar to them (Silver and Huang, 2019). Online platforms provide an area for people to meet from various countries and cultures. Social media also makes it easier for people to find and develop new interests. Networking platforms are built with the user in mind and connect you with niche communities that are specific to that particular interest. One of the ways new media is changing the world for the bett...
